How to Fold a Paper Plane: Stealth Fighter

Red origami stealth fighter paper airplane rests on mint green surface, angular wings folded for aerodynamic look.

With its sharp angles and sleek design, this stealth-inspired paper plane is built for speed and style.

Unlike basic dart planes, the stealth fighter paper airplane features broad, angled wings and a locked nose fold that mimics the look of real-world stealth aircraft. It's quick to fold, easy to launch, and perfect for indoor or outdoor flights.

This step-by-step tutorial from How to Make Origami shows you how to fold the model using a standard 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper. The folds are simple enough for beginners but satisfying for enthusiasts looking to expand their collection.

Recommended paper

Use a regular letter-size sheet of copy paper (8.5 x 11 inches). Avoid thick paper or cardstock — lightweight paper glides better and is easier to fold precisely.

Folding instructions

Start by laying your paper vertically (portrait orientation) on a flat surface. Then, build a symmetrical design with sharp creases and angled wings.

  1. Make a center crease: Fold the paper in half lengthwise and unfold it to leave a center guideline.

  2. Create the nose triangle: Fold the top corners down to meet at the center crease, forming a triangle at the top.

  3. Fold the triangle down: Take the pointed tip and fold it downward so it touches the bottom edge of the paper.

  4. Refold top corners: Fold the new top corners down to the center again, lining up the edges with the crease to form a narrower triangle.

  5. Lock the nose: Fold the small triangle tip up to lock the flaps in place.

  6. Fold in half: Fold the entire paper in half away from you along the center crease so the triangle flaps are on the outside.

  7. Shape the wings: Fold each wing down from the top edge at a downward angle to create a wide, stealthy profile. Make sure the wings are even and symmetrical.

Test flight tips

Before throwing, check that the wings are flat and angled slightly upward at the back. This helps improve glide and stability. Toss it gently with a level hand for a smooth flight.
